Windows 10 is here. If you've recently taken the plunge you may find navigating some of the new features to be a little difficult.

Thankfully new keyboard shortcuts make it easy.

Of the hundreds you can use, we've put together our top 21 keyboard shortcuts to help you be more productive. Some of the shortcuts carry over from older versions of Windows.

  • Windows logo key Windows logo key: Open Start Menu
  • Windows logo key Windows logo key+Tab: Open Task View
  • Windows logo key Windows logo key+A: Open Action Centre
  • Windows logo key Windows logo key+S: Open Search
  • Windows logo key Windows logo key+C: Open Cortana personal assistant          *Available by end of 2015
  • Windows logo key Windows logo key+I: Open Settings
  • Windows logo key Windows logo key+D: Open New Virtual Desktop
    • Windows logo key Windows logo key+Ctrl+F4: Close Virtual Desktop
    • Windows logo key Windows logo key+Ctrl+(Left or Right) Arrow: Switch between Virtual Desktops

Classic shortcuts:

  • Alt-F4: Close the active window
  • Alt-Tab: Switch between open windows
  • Ctrl-C: Copy selected item
  • Ctrl-X: Cut selected item
  • Ctrl-V: Paste selected item
  • Windows logo key Windows logo key+L: Lock computer or switch user
  • Windows logo key Windows logo key+D: Display or hide desktop
  • Ctrl-Alt-Del: User login options+Open Task Manager
